THE ROLE OF THE AUSTRALIAN SURF ROWERS
LEAGUE The committee of the ASRL-SA work for and on behalf of all surf
rowers regardless of whether they are members of the ASRL or not. Gains and
improvements, which have been made to date, are enjoyed by all. Your
committee is continuously working with the management of SLSSA and board of
Surf Sports to improve our sport and many improvements and changes have been
made in a relatively short period of time. Some of these include, from a
National as well as State perspective: -
Two competition areas at large carnivals
Gate cans
Round robin format
Softer elimination cuts
ASRL Boat panel reps at Aussie champs
Direct liaison with SLSA and SLSSA
VB Cup sponsored competition at State and National level
Surfboat Competition for women
Increased TV exposure: ASRL Open, VB Cup
ASRL luncheon at Jupiter’s Casino
Grand-Prix Series – Trophies and Prizes
Certificate of recognition for all finalists at Aussie Champs
Port Augusta Super Series with prizes and extra competition
Monthly meetings where each club can have their input
SA has it’s own IRB and gear provided to us by SLSSA
Provided radio’s for carnival use

As you can see, significant progress has been made and there is more in the
pipeline. We encourage all surf rowers to become members of the South
Australian ASRL or ASRL and make our voice stronger.
