The
ASRL in conjunction with HSM
Group are delighted to announce
that the League are entering
into formal discussions with
Australian Defence Force
Recruiting to have the
Royal Australian Navy
as official naming rights
sponsor for the 2009 ASRL
National Surfboat Premiership.
As time is now very tight with the first event in the National League programmed to kick off on Sat 15 November at Marcoola Qld we need everyone to get those entries in. download crew entry form For a one off payment of $35 per head you will receive: • ASRL membership for 2008/2009 • Entry into the Navy Surf Rowers National League • Opportunity to be selected as your States representative crew in each racing division • Subsidized travel to the Navy Interstate Challenge • Full team outfitting as the State team for the Navy Interstate Challenge • Crew entry fee into the ASRL Open at Broulee • Navy the Team Works Racing Singlet • Navy SRNL Cap • Navy SRNS Bumper Sticker Without the subsidy and if joining or entering individually you would pay: $15 per head membership; crew entry into Navy Surf Rowers National League $150; crew entry into ASRL Open at Broulee $150. What must be understood is that individual carnival entry fees are still payable to the host club This is a State based event. The idea is to try to minimize travelling and cost as much as possible especially in the larger States. Each State Series will be conducted in some form of a point score system that will be administered independently by each State Rowers Group. What this means is that you will have a certain number of available carnivals being conducted in your State between November & the end of January. At the end of the State Series each State will select its team to contest the Interstate Challenge. This Interstate Challenge is very successfully conducted as a twilight meet on the Friday prior to the ASRL Open. Each State will select the best crew in each of the 6 divisions. The overall Series finances will allow for a subsidy to each State to help with outfitting & travel for all Interstate teams so we have a full compliment in each division. We are still working towards providing special prizes that every competing crew will be eligible to win simply by contesting the Series in each State. Finally we are working towards achieving Press exposure through our supplying Press Reports & Photos to the Regional Newspapers and Television exposure both via Regional news reports. We are also hopeful of a Documentary built around the entire series. To achieve this we are trying to stretch the budget to cover the cost of having TV footage shot in each State at selected events plus the Interstate Challenge & ASRL Open. • Dates as selected by each State Rowers League • Actual Point Score system will be advised by your State body
